The Oorja 2018 art event was hosted at the Taj West End Art Corridor from 23rd Nov to 28th Nov 2018. This show was curated by the award-winning artist M G Doddamani, and showcased twenty artists who supported the causes of Stree Jagriti Samiti, co-founded and run by Ms. Geeta Menon, and recipient of many prestigious awards like Namma Bengaluru Awards' Citizen of the Year 2016 and Nirbhaya Nari Shakti Award 2017.
Stree Jagriti Samiti, is a Bangalore-based NGO supporting Domestic Workers by negotiating their basic rights that are needed for every human being to lead a life of dignity and justice. “Oorja” or life energy as that of Shakti, is the very essence of women; which is also the very motto of this organization i.e. to awaken the Shakti in all oppressed women, so their lives will be hopeful and colourful. The survivors of forced labour trafficking, whom Stree Jagriti Samiti gives a lifeline too, needs all your ‘energy’ as support, acceptance and generous donations through art.
